Yuri Kagan, originally from San Diego, is a comedian currently out of the Bay Area who while working on a building a comedy career, spent 10 years bartending in
San Francisco’s Castro District.
Son of Russian immigrants who came to the United States as refugees, Yuri grew up in San Diego. A place where he learned that while other people tanned, he ignited. Being a pale-kid that stood out is what gave him the ability to laugh at both himself and the world around him. He later moved to San Francisco to attend San Francisco State University where he completed his degree in bad habits and joke telling. That is also where he developed key-insight into the world around him to write, “Vodka and Limelight.” A lifestyle site asked him to write a few humorous article about his observations as a bartender and soon the book was born.
Yuri has been profiled in SFWeekly, the Vallejo Daily Republic and received much acclaim for his blog www.YuriKagan.blogspot.com.”
